Niklas Åstenius has professional background in corporate commercial/M&A and 20 years’ experience of dispute resolution. After graduation from Lund University in 1998, and six months with Wistrand lawfirm, Niklas Åstenius served as a law clerk in the district court of Malmö. He thereafter joined Mannheimer Swartling Advokatbyrå as an associate in 2000 and was partner between 2010 and 2018.

Niklas Åstenius has represented a wide range of Swedish and international clients in disputes within various legal areas, including among others, trade secrets and other intellectual property rights, contractual disputes, property and construction disputes, insurance and reinsurance disputes, disputes concerning board liability, as well as a number of transaction and joint venture related disputes. Niklas Åstenius has represented clients before courts in Sweden and arbitral tribunals both in Sweden and abroad. He has extensive experience of arbitration within the framework of various rules and disputes involving application of Swedish and foreign law.

Niklas Åstenius also sits as an arbitrator and lectures at the Lund Faculty of Law special course Practical European Procedural Law (Praktisk Europaprocessrätt).
